Revolving around two bodies of work, one comprised of a visual decode of masculinity and gender, one focused around organic and inorganic fractal forms using mark making, I find myself in the middle attempting to pull the two together into one cohesive format. This single body of work is the ideal scenario for my practice, though the organic ties between the two that form through making is what I find myself drawn to, so as I gently pull the two into one, I take my time during the process allowing the mark making and creating of the work to guide it. By creating a lot of work, putting it away, and then pulling it all out at one moment to display together, I begin to see a common thread develop and am able to piece together more meaning for myself. Many mediums are present and utilized throughout my studio practice and I find this use of materials and media to be a driving force behind my creation. Having the base of these two interests constantly in the back of my conscience, I am able to utilize whatever medium feels right for the piece I am trying to produce next, also letting the material influence the next work, essentially being the facilitator for the dialogue produced between the work.
