My artistic practice centers on a mixed media approach. I collect materials from nature,
vintage papers, found objects and personal photographs that capture life cycles and the
passage of time.
Growing up on the prairie, I have seen so many places disappear or become abandoned. I am
interested in documenting crumbling exteriors, decaying surfaces and what remains. Who lived
there? What was their story and why was something left behind? How has time eroded or
transformed a surface? By embedding the photographic image or found objects in encaustic
wax, I am striving to evoke a memory that triggers a sense of time and place.
